In-house UV Printing maximises Lightforce Australia’s R&D momentum

Lightforce Australia   |   Australia

Lightforce Group was founded in the early 1980s, was incorporated in 1995, and is now a global enterprise and an Australian success story. Lightforce Group has developed a reputation as being one of the world’s leading manufacturers of innovative lighting equipment and unsurpassed riflescope optics. They’re also developers of advanced reticle systems (ie. Patterned lines/designs built into eyepieces of optical devices), provide first class gun smithing services and grow premium organic agricultural products.

R&D requires quick turnaround of design iterations and so owning our own (UV Printing) machine affords us the ability to try many different designs in a short period of time.

Before

  • At Lightforce Australia, their R&D necessitates fast creation of samples and prototypes, using multiple design variations, and they were struggling to find a UV print supplier to collaborate with them in the R&D space.

After

  • Purchasing their own UV printer has allowed Lightforce Australia to control their printing process and has given them the latitude to try many variations in order to choose their ideal product.
  • Using their new UV printer to stylise their lighting products in a way that has never before been used on aux driving lighting products.

Lightforce Group is proudly a South Australian and family-owned company that’s now incorporated. Under the Lightforce Australia banner are several innovative businesses including: Lightforce, Nightforce Optics, Ace Precision Rifle Systems, Horus Vision Reticle Technologies, Gunforce, Force Ordnance, Klondyke Range Complex and Paroo Pastoral Company. At the helm is Dr Ray Dennis and his Management Team who set the tone for the business’ precision manufacturing and cutting-edge product development.

With such a broad range of technical and intricate products under their remit, along with domestic and international competitors to deflect, Lightforce Group has honed its expertise in adding-value, creating differentiation and delivering the highest quality in its products and services.

R&D plays a key part in Lightforce’s ongoing success, allowing them to stay ahead of their competitors and exceed customers’ demands. When their local UV printer suppliers became too busy to meet their fast turnaround demands on new product design iterations, Lightforce Australia didn’t hesitate buying their own LEF2-300 Benchtop UV Printer to bring their work in-house.

Mark Reina, Senior Design Engineer at Lightforce Australia was more than happy with that decision saying “our Dealer was very helpful in sourcing the machine and provided a lot of procurement support. The cost of purchasing it, along with the benefits of controlling the printing process, offered us a lot of benefits.”

In-house printing gives control

And already their UV printer is proving its value, adding distinction to their lighting products without affecting the hardiness of the products’ coatings. In keeping with their innovative ethos, Lightforce Australia have recently launched a key product in their product line that uses their UV printing technology to print on the product. Mark proudly says “UV printing has never been applied to aux driving lighting products before.”

It’s a testament to the quality, high-definition and high productivity of the LEF2-300 that Lightforce Australia, with its exacting standards, have chosen this model for their purposes. Mark says “The machine has been reliable and the quality from it has been great. It’s robust and reliable and well suited for industrial manufacturing.”
