Roland revolutionised the fine art reproduction market when it introduced the 6-color, 54” Hi-Fi JET and first pigment ink for inkjets in 1997. Since then, numerous Roland innovations have followed, including the 12-color Roland d’Vinci, a 54” aqueous inkjet printer based on our award-winning Hi-Fi JET Pro II FJ-540, and Roland ECO-SOL MAX™ ink.

The fine art market is dominated by aqueous inkjet printers that continue to deliver the ultimate in image quality. Recent advances in inkjet technology include delivering exceptional gamut and image quality with Roland Eco-Sol Max ink. A growing number of professionals are using Roland eco-solvent printers including VersaArt, VersaCAMM and SolJet XC series models to produce fine art reproductions and murals for display in hotels, retail locations and other venues. Metallic colours add brilliance to any of these applications and can be created with Metallic Silver ECO-SOL MAX ink featured in SOLJET PRO III XC-540MT and VersaCAMM VS-640 printer/cutters.

DecorPrinted Fabric Decor

Office and home décor is fast becoming a lucrative market for Roland’s Hi-Fi Express FP-740 74” sublimation printer. The FP-740 is currently serving select shops to produce large, fabric fine art reproductions, murals and decorative fine art prints. The FP-740’s sublimation inks produce dense, rich colours, making them well suited for a range of decor applications. In addition, fabric prints can enhance the acoustics of a room, a factor that is increasingly important as interiors continue to feature many hard surfaces such as granite, tile and hardwood.

  • SOLJET PRO III XJ-640 Series

    The SOLJET PRO III XJ series of wide-format inkjet printers combine high-speed performance and superior image quality for the ultimate in six-colour digital printing. Numerous upgrades make the XJ series the industry’s most advanced wide-format printers and the ideal production tools for stunning outdoor banners, signs, vehicle graphics and more.

    In addition to a maximum print speed of 41.8 sq m/hr. for the 64" model, the XJ series offers print resolutions of up to 1440x1440 dpi for photorealistic CMYK+LcLm graphics. An integrated tri-heating system, optional dryer/blower unit and advanced media feed and automatic take-up system support the demands of high-volume shops.

    • High-Speed Production Printing

      Designed to address a wide gamut of applications, banners, signs, point of purchase displays, event graphics, vehicle graphics and more, the six-colour (CMYK+LcLm) SOLJET PRO III XJ Series achieves maximum print speeds of up to 41.8 sq m/hr for the 64” XJ-640.

      The high-speed network interface card delivers rapid data transfer optimizing the demands of high resolution output. The optional dryer/blower unit further expedites the production process by accelerating the drying time of unattended high speed production printing.

    • Outstanding Print Quality

      XJ series produces photorealistic graphics that look great up close and at a distance. XJ printers precisely control droplet placement in both the print head travel and paper feed directions to provide up to 1440x1440 dpi resolution.

      Equipped with Piezo print heads, the XJ design features a digital servomotor to control the media for precision imaging. Variable droplet technology uses micro-precise ink droplets of three different sizes depending on the type of output. This state-of-the-art technology delivers truly breathtaking output with beautifully smooth, dot-free tones even at high print speeds on a wide range of media from vinyl and banner to paper and mesh.

      System enhancements include enhanced grit accuracy as well as new media flanges, pinch rollers and grit rollers for flawless media feeding and tracking. Extended built-in media edge clamps prevent media curling and ragged edges.

      To further ensure the highest print quality, VersaWorks offers precision spot colour matching through the Roland Colour System. VersaWorks also supports industry standard ICC profiles, comes with several Roland media profiles, and is compatible with profiles created through standard profiling packages. An updated list of Roland profiles can be accessed through the Roland@NETservice.

    • Precision Firing Pattern

      Roland’s unique precision firing pattern has been optimized for the XJ’s piezo print heads to achieve unparalleled image quality in every print mode. As a result, the XJ produces dense, rich colours and high-contrast images with no traces of banding at the highest print speeds.

    • Advanced ECO-SOL MAX™ Ink

      Eco-Sol Max InkECO-SOL MAX™ eco-solvent ink delivers high colour density and a wide gamut for exceptional images print after print. ECO-SOL MAX™ performs on a wide range of both coated and uncoated media, including backlit film, for increased versatility. Fast-drying and scratch-resistant, ECO-SOL MAX™ produces prints that dry quickly for easy handling throughout the production and finishing processes. Packaged in easy, no-mess 220 and 440 ml cartridges, ECO-SOL MAX™ is virtually odorless for maximum convenience and comfort.

    • Automated Maintenance System

      The XJ features an automated maintenance system that saves valuable ink and time, resulting in lower overall running costs. The XJ’s in-line print head configuration eliminates the need for lengthy calibration procedures as well.

    • Heavy-Duty Take-Up System

      MediaThe XJ includes an automated media feed and take-up system to facilitate precision unattended printing. This pre-assembled unit includes convenient front-mounted feed and take-up rollers and an advanced tension-controlled take-up system for optimum media feed and tracking. The system handles rolls weighing up to 47kg for the XJ-740 and 40kg for the XJ-640.

    • VersaWorks RIP Software

      VersaWorksVersaWorks is powerful RIP software developed by Roland engineers for the company’s inkjet technology. VersaWorks features an efficient graphical user interface that allows users to maximize their Roland inkjet without a lengthy learning curve. VersaWorks is packed with features including Roland Color, Roland’s exclusive spot colour fidelity system, Variable Data Printing, and a wide variety of convenient layout, edit and print functions such as nesting, tiling and auto/manual-layout.

      This true Adobe PostScript 3 RIP is designed by Roland to ensure exceptional production output with unmatched ease of use and uses the latest Adobe CPSI 3018 engine. VersaWorks uses Roland Intelligent Pass Control to optimize the output quality on the AJ-1000i and estimates the ink usage and print time for each graphic produced. The Roland Color System accurately reproduces spot colours from Roland Color charts and swatch books.

      Automatic updates through the Internet, ensure that VersaWorks is always up to date with the latest version. VersaWorks is compatible with Windows 7 and 2000/XP operating systems.

    • Integrated Tri-Heater System

      The XJ’s integrated tri-heater system dries prints quickly even in high-speed modes for immediate finishing, installation or collection by the take-up system. The system features three components: a pre-heater that improves media receptiveness, a print heater to accelerate ink fastness and brightness, and a dryer to accelerate the drying process and improve productivity, workability and scratch resistance. All can be controlled from either the printer panel or Roland VersaWorks.

    • Optional Dryer/Blower Unit

      An optional dryer/blower unit is offered for the XJ series. This upgrade ensures the ability to print highly saturated images at full speed while using the take-up rollers – with absolutely no image transfer.

      For a low-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $2.50 per sq m. For a high-density image, we estimate an average ink cost of $3.50 per sq m.
